1. Our Commitment
Marang Group (Pty) Ltd is committed to ensuring that our website is accessible to as many people as possible, including people with visual, hearing, motor, or cognitive disabilities. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA standard published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).
We believe that everyone deserves equal access to information about our products and services. Accessibility is not a checkbox — it is part of how we build and maintain our site.
2. What We Have Done
We have taken the following steps to improve accessibility on this website:
- Semantic HTML: We use proper heading levels (H1–H3), landmark regions (
nav, main, footer), and structured lists to support screen reader navigation - Descriptive alt text: All meaningful images include descriptive alternative text. Decorative images are marked with empty alt attributes
- Keyboard navigation: All interactive elements — navigation links, the contact form, and buttons — can be reached and operated using a keyboard alone
- Colour contrast: Text colours are chosen to meet a minimum 4.5:1 contrast ratio against their backgrounds, as required by WCAG 2.1 AA
- Readable type: Body text is set at a minimum of 16px equivalent, with a line height of 1.7 for comfortable reading
- Responsive design: The site adapts to screens from small mobile devices (320px wide) to large desktop monitors, without horizontal scrolling
- Reduced motion: Animations respect the
prefers-reduced-motionmedia query — users who have requested reduced motion in their OS settings will not see the parallax and entrance animations - Focus indicators: Focused elements display a visible focus ring so keyboard users can track their position on the page
- Form labels: All contact form fields have descriptive labels and placeholder text. Required fields are identified
- Language attribute: The HTML
lang="en"attribute is set so screen readers use the correct pronunciation rules - No auto-playing audio or video: We do not use auto-playing media that could disorient users
- Sufficient link text: Links are written to be descriptive in context — we avoid generic link text such as "click here"
3. Known Limitations
While we strive to meet WCAG 2.1 AA, we are aware of the following current limitations:
- Some gallery images sourced from third-party suppliers may have less detailed alt text than we would like. We are reviewing these
- The embedded map in the Depots section is provided by OpenStreetMap via an iframe. Map controls within the iframe may not be fully accessible to keyboard-only users — we provide a direct link to OpenStreetMap as an alternative
- The animated GIF in the gallery section does not have a pause control at this time. Users with vestibular disorders who are affected by moving images can contact us for assistance
We are actively working to address these limitations and will update this statement when improvements are made.
4. Assistive Technology Compatibility
This site has been designed to be compatible with commonly used assistive technologies, including:
- Screen readers (NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver on macOS and iOS, TalkBack on Android)
- Browser zoom up to 200% without loss of content or functionality
- Keyboard-only navigation
- High-contrast mode on Windows
- Voice control software (Dragon NaturallySpeaking)
5. Text Resizing
You can increase or decrease text size using your browser's built-in zoom controls. All page layouts are designed to remain readable and functional when text is scaled up to 200% in major browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Safari).
6. Colour and Display
We do not rely solely on colour to convey information. For users who are colour-blind or who use high-contrast display settings, the site remains navigable and all meaningful information is conveyed through text or shape in addition to colour.
7. Third-Party Content
Some content on this website is provided by third parties (Google Fonts for typography, OpenStreetMap for the depot map, and Web3Forms for form processing). We cannot control the accessibility of these third-party services, but we have selected providers that publish their own accessibility policies and we will substitute alternatives if accessibility falls short.
8. Requesting Accessible Alternatives
If you need information from this website in an alternative format — for example as a plain-text email, in larger print, or in a format compatible with your assistive technology — please contact us and we will do our best to help.
Accessibility contact: thato@maranggroupsa.co.za or +27 84 888 8878. We aim to respond within 5 working days.
9. Feedback
We welcome feedback on the accessibility of this website. If you find that any content or feature is not accessible to you, or if you have ideas for how we can improve, please let us know. Your feedback directly informs our improvement efforts.
Please include:
- The URL of the page with the issue
- A description of the difficulty you experienced
- The assistive technology and browser you were using, if applicable
10. Enforcement and Escalation
If you are not satisfied with our response to your accessibility concern, the matter may be escalated to the South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC), which has a mandate to promote equal access to public and private services for persons with disabilities.
